Winning Prairie Fire’s 2016 Banff Centre Bliss Carman Poetry Award has made for an incredible year.
First, the award, and, of course, the prize.
Then came Prairie Fire’s contest issue. (You can still buy copies!)
Then came the invitation to attend Thin Air Winnipeg 2017. I’m thrilled to be participating in two events–talking books at McNally Robinson in the afternoon on Sept. 29, and then reading at the Poetry Bash that evening.
Between events, I’ll have the pleasure of meeting and having dinner with the wonderful folks at Prairie Fire. At some point, I will (with tears, I’m sure), receive the beautiful beautiful Bliss Carman ring from the Banff Centre.
For so many reasons, I just can’t wait. And yet I know I’ll have a heavy heart reading my poem about Annie Pootoogook.
